Privacy policy

Privacy, plainly.

This is Alex Tong’s portfolio: projects, writing, and the design, engineering, and coaching services I offer. It is built to collect as little about you as possible. I do not sell your data, I do not run ad trackers, and I do not build a marketing profile of you.

Contact inquiries

The contact form asks for your name, email address, the kind of help you need, and your message. It also includes the service or project inquiry that brought you to the form. You do not need to create an account.

Your submission goes to Formspree, which processes and stores it and delivers it to me. Formspree may also process technical information, such as your IP address and browser details, to operate its service and prevent spam. See Formspree’s privacy policy.

Analytics

I use Vercel Analytics to understand aggregate traffic, such as which pages get visited and roughly where visits come from. It is privacy-friendly and does not use tracking cookies or identify you personally. See Vercel’s privacy policy for how the hosting and analytics provider handles data.

Vercel Speed Insights also collects page-performance measurements, such as loading and responsiveness, along with page, browser, and device information. It helps me find performance problems. See Speed Insights privacy information.

How I use your inquiry

I use your contact details and message to reply, discuss your request, and, if we decide to work together, run that engagement. Sending an inquiry does not subscribe you to a mailing list.

The newsletter

My newsletter is hosted on Substack, a separate service. If you subscribe, Substack collects and processes your email address under its own privacy policy. New newsletter subscriptions are handled by Substack, rather than a signup form on this site. Older subscriber and download records may remain from the retired on-site system; contact me with questions or a deletion request.

Eye Break updates

When the Eye Break app checks this site for an update, the server receives its IP address and user-agent information. It stores a shortened hash of the IP address, the app version, user-agent, and the most recent check time in a Neon database. These records support aggregate usage and version statistics. The update-check record does not contain an email address.

App downloads are served by GitHub. Current public downloads do not require an account on this site or create a subscriber-linked download record here.

Cookies

This site does not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Any cookies are limited to what is technically needed to serve the page.

Third parties

This site uses Vercel (hosting and analytics), Formspree (contact inquiries), and Substack (the newsletter). Eye Break uses GitHub for downloads and Neon for update-check records. Their policies explain how they process data: see the links above, GitHub’s privacy statement, and Neon’s privacy notice.

Questions or requests

For any privacy question, or to ask about information associated with you and request deletion, contact alextongme@gmail.com or use the contact page.

Changes

If I change how this site handles data, I will update this page and the date at the top.
